  138.      This legal document is an agreement between you, the end user,
  139.      and Miller Programming & Consulting.  BY OPENING THIS SEALED DISK
  140.      PACKAGE, YOU ARE AGREEING TO BECOME BOUND BY THE TERMS OF THIS
  141.      AGREEMENT, WHICH INCLUDES THE SOFTWARE LICENSE, SOFTWARE
  142.      DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY, AND HARDWARE LIMITED WARRANTY
  143.      (collectively the "Agreement").  THIS AGREEMENT CONSTITUTES THE
  144.      COMPLETE AGREEMENT BETWEEN YOU AND MILLER PROGRAMMING &
  145.      CONSULTING.  IF YOU DO NOT AGREE TO THE TERMS OF THIS AGREEMENT,

  154.      1. GRANT OF LICENSE - In consideration of payment of the LICENSE 
  155.         fee, for which is part of the price you paid for this product, 
  156.         Miller Programming & Consulting, as LICENSOR, grants to you,  
  157.         the LICENSEE, a nonexclusive right to use and display this    
  158.         copy of a Miller Programming & Consulting software program
  159.         (hereinafter the "SOFTWARE") on a single COMPUTER (i.e. with a
  160.         single CPU) at a single location.  If the single computer on 
  161.         which you use the SOFTWARE is a multiuser system, the License 
  162.         covers all users on that single system.  Miller Programming &
  163.         Consulting reserves all rights not expressly granted to
  164.         LICENSEE.
  165.      
  166.      2. OWNERSHIP OF SOFTWARE - As the LICENSEE, you own the magnetic
  167.         or other physical media on which the SOFTWARE is originally or
  168.         subsequently recorded or fixed, but Miller Programming &
  169.         Consulting retains title and ownership of the SOFTWARE
  170.         recorded on the original disk copy(ies) and all subsequent
  171.         copies of the SOFTWARE, regardless of the form or media in or
  172.         on which the original and other copies may exist.  This
  173.         License is not a sale or the original SOFTWARE or any copy.

  175.      3. COPY RESTRICTIONS - This SOFTWARE and the accompanying written
  176.         materials are copyrighted.  Unauthorized copying of the
  177.         SOFTWARE, including SOFTWARE that has been modified, merged,
  178.         or included with other software, or of the written materials
  179.         is expressly forbidden.  You may be held legally responsible
  180.         for any copyright infringement that is caused or encouraged by
  181.         your failure to abide by the terms of this License.  Subject
  182.         to these restrictions, and if the SOFTWARE is not copy-     
  183.      protected, you may make one (1) copy of the SOFTWARE solely
  184.         for backup purposes.  You must reproduce and include the 
  185.         copyright notice on the backup copy.

  204.      5. TRANSFER RESTRICTIONS - This SOFTWARE is licensed only to you,
  205.         the LICENSEE, and may not be transferred to anyone without the
  206.         prior written consent of Miller Programming & Consulting.  Any
  207.         authorized transferees of the SOFTWARE shall be bound by the
  208.         terms and conditions of this Agreement.  In no event may you 
  209.         transfer, assign, rent, lease, sell, or otherwise dispose of
  210.         the SOFTWARE on a temporary or permanent basis except as 
  211.         expressly provided herein.

  213.      6. TERMINATION - This License is effective until terminated. 
  214.         This License will terminate automatically without notice from
  215.         Miller Programming & Consulting if you fail to comply with any
  216.         provision of this License.  Upon termination you shall destroy
  217.         the written materials and all copies of the SOFTWARE, 
  218.         including modified copies, if any.

  220.      7, UPDATE POLICY - Miller Programming & Consulting may create,
  221.         from time to time, updated versions of the SOFTWARE.  At its
  222.         option, Miller Programming & Consulting will make such updates
  223.         available to the LICENSEE and transferee who have paid the 
  224.         update fee, if any, and returned the registration form to 
  225.         Miller Programming & Consulting.
  226.      
  227.      8. MISCELLANEOUS - This Agreement is governed by the laws of the 
  228.         State of Florida.

  231.                 DISCLAIMER OF WARRANTY AND LIMITED WARRANTY
  232.      
  233.      THE SOFTWARE AND ACCOMPANYING WRITTEN MATERIALS (INCLUDING
  234.      INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE) ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF
  235.      ANY KIND.  FURTHER, MILLER PROGRAMMING & CONSULTING DOES NOT
  236.      WARRANT, GUARANTEE, OR MAKE ANY REPRESENTATIONS REGARDING THE
  237.      USE, OR THE RESULTS OF THE USE, OF THE SOFTWARE OR WRITTEN
  238.      MATERIALS IN TERMS OF CORRECTNESS, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY,
  239.      CURRENTNESS, OR OTHERWISE.  THE ENTIRE RISK AS TO THE RESULTS AND
  240.      PERFORMANCE OF THE SOFTWARE IS ASSUMED BY YOU.  IF THE SOFTWARE

  246.      Miller Programming & Consulting warrants to the original LICENSEE
  247.      that (a) the disk(s) on which the SOFTWARE is recorded is free
  248.      from defects in materials and workmanship under normal use and
  249.      service for a period of ninth (90) days from the date of delivery
  250.      as evidenced by a copy of the receipt and (b) the hardware
  251.      accompanying the SOFTWARE is free from defects in materials and
  252.      workmanship under normal use and service for a period of one (1)
  253.      year from the date of delivery as evidenced by a copy of the
  254.      receipt.  Further, Miller Programming & Consulting hereby limits
  255.      the duration of any implied warranty(ies) on the disk or such
  256.      hardware to the respective periods stated above.  Some states do
  257.      not allow limitations on duration of an implied warranty, so the
  258.      above limitation may not apply to you.

  273.      Warranty and which is returned to Miller Programming & Consulting
  274.      with a copy of the receipt.  If failure of the disk or hardware
  275.      has resulted from accident, abuse, or misapplication, Miller
  276.      Programming & Consulting shall have no responsibility to replace
  277.      the disk or hardware or refund the purchase price.  Any
  278.      replacement disk or hardware will be warranted for the remainder
  279.      of the original warranty period or thirty (30) days, whichever is

  339.      Config/Autoexec Manager version 2.62 was created to extend the
  340.      function of Config/Autoexec Manager version 2.5.  This release
  341.      contains a number of enhancements described herein.  
  342.      
  343.      CAM manages up to 20 different AUTOEXEC.BAT & CONFIG.SYS file
  344.      combinations each known as a system configuration.  For users
  345.      requiring more than 20 different configurations, CAMPRO, or 
  346.      CAM Professional, is designed to manage up to 20 different
  347.      categories that contain up to 20 different configurations.  
  348.      
  349.      CAM and CAMPRO are designed to be installed and executed with a
  350.      minimal amount of reference needed.  Config/Autoexec Manager is
  351.      the only program to date that can easily maintain your
  352.      configurations.  No other program can compare to the simplicity
  353.      of CAM.  CAM is "THE STANDARD" in multiple configuration
  354.      management.

  356.      Since its initial release, CAM has been able to adapt to the
  357.      fast-paced changes in the computer industry.  As time progresses,
  358.      alternate versions of CAM will be available to operate under a

  468.      WHY YOU NEED CONFIG/AUTOEXEC MANAGER
  469.      
  470.      If you have purchased a program that requires its own system
  471.      configuration, i.e. its own AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS file, or
  472.      modifies the current root directory configuration when the
  473.      program is installed, such as Microsoft Windows or Quarterdeck's
  474.      Desqview, or the like, then you have a need for Config/Autoexec
  475.      Manager.  Config/Autoexec Manager has been developed for users
  476.      who have a need for more than one system configuration.  These
  477.      configurations are needed to be quickly selected and placed in
  478.      the root directory of your boot drive to be executed upon system
  479.      reboot.  Config/Autoexec Manager will allow you to create and
  480.      manage up to 20 different configurations and keep track of these
  481.      configurations whereby you can select which configuration to
  482.      execute and press the Enter key.  Config/Autoexec Manager manages
  483.      these configurations more effectively than any other comparable
  484.      program to date.  CAM is the standard in multiple configuration
  485.      management.

  487.      Since its initial development, CAM has expanded its
  488.      functionality.  This expansion is due to the acknowledgement of
  489.      two types of users, the general user and the power user.  The
  490.      general user will need only a minimal selection of different
  491.      configurations, generally up to 20 configurations.  However, the
  492.      power user constantly changes and tests a variety of applications
  493.      that need more than these basic 20 configurations.  CAM is
  494.      designed for the general user or the user whose needs are basic. 
  495.      That is, the need for 20 configurations or less.  On the other
  496.      hand, the power user or system developer needs more than 20
  497.      configurations and also needs to maintain them categorically. 
  498.      CAMPRO or CAM Professional is designed for this purpose.  CAMPRO
  499.      will allow the user to create up to 20 different categories with
  500.      up to 20 different configurations in each category.  What ever
  501.      your needs, then there is a version of CAM for you.  You decide
  502.      which one is for you.

  505.      HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS
  506.      
  507.      CAM 2.62 requires a minimum of 512K of available RAM (Random
  508.      Access Memory) to execute properly depending upon the size of
  509.      your editor used in conjunction with CAM.  That is, 512K RAM in
  510.      addition to the operating system and any memory resident programs
  511.      such as Sidekick, Superkey, etc...  If you are operating with
  512.      less than 512K total RAM, CAM 2.6 might not be able to load your
  513.      editor properly.  CAM will operate under the DOS operating system
  514.      version 2.11 to current version on the IBM PC, XT, AT, or close
  515.      compatibles including the PS/2 systems and may be used with color
  516.      or monochrome displays.

  518.      Because CAM 2.62 may have a relatively large number of files open
  519.      at once, you must assure that the FILES parameter in your
  520.      CONFIG.SYS file is large enough to accommodate them.  We suggest
  521.      using FILES=30 (or larger).  Your DOS manual can give you more
  522.      information on the CONFIG.SYS file.

  524.      It is recommended that CAM 2.62 be installed to a hard disk or
  525.      non-removable disk medium.

  535.      Config/Autoexec Manager is released as Shareware, i.e. you are
  536.      given permission by the author to install and use CAM on one
  537.      computer with one CPU for a period of thirty days to determine
  538.      whether or not you have a use for the program.  Continued use
  539.      beyond the thirty day period granted by the author requires
  540.      registration.  See Appendix D for Registration Details.

  568.      the file extension.  This is to permit correct installation of
  569.      CAM.  If you find that some of these files are missing, consider
  570.      it not to be a bona fide and true copy.  See Appendix C for
  571.      obtaining a bona fide and true copy from the sources listed.

  600.      USING THE INSTALLATION PROGRAM
  601.      
  602.      You begin the installation procedure by either inserting the CAM
  603.      disk into Drive A and typing INSTALL at the DOS prompt after
  604.      closing the drive latch, or unzipping the CAM262.ZIP file into
  605.      its own directory and typing INSTALL at the DOS prompt.
  606.      
  607.      Example: A> INSTALL <Press ENTER or RETURN>
  608.      
  609.      The Installation Menu will appear on the screen and you will be
  610.      able to re-define or use the default drive and directory.  After
  611.      editing the destination directory if necessary, press the Enter
  612.      or Return key and the Installation Program will begin to create
  613.      CAM's directory and relocate the appropriate files on the
  614.      destination drive.
  615.      
  616.      If the destination directory you have selected contains a prior
  617.      version of CAM, then the Select Prior Version Menu will appear
  618.      and you will be able to select which version you have already
  619.      installed on your system.  After selected the correct prior
  620.      version of CAM, the Installation Program will upgrade your
  621.      configurations and CAM Setup file to the newer 2.62 version. 
  622.      When this is completed, you do not have to run the Upgrade
  623.      utility program enclosed with this version.
  624.      
  625.      If your destination directory does not contain a prior version or
  626.      you do not wish to install the new version of CAM into an
  627.      existing prior version directory, the Installation Program will
  628.      install CAM 2.62 into that designated directory you have
  629.      selected.  If you have a prior version on your system, then after
  630.      installation you can use the Upgrade utility program to convert
  631.      the CAM Setup file and configurations to the new 2.62 version.
  632.      
  633.      After the Installation Program has completed, you will be placed
  634.      in the CAM 2.62 directory on the destination drive.  On the
  635.      screen at the top left corner, you will see instructions to
  636.      proceed to the next step.  Otherwise, type CAM at the DOS prompt
  637.      to configure the new CAM 2.62 version at the DOS prompt to your
  638.      needs and specifications.
  639.      
  640.      INITIAL CAM EXECUTION
  641.      
  642.      If you have not upgraded an existing prior version of CAM upon
  643.      installation, then upon the initial execution of CAM you will be
  644.      prompted for necessary changes in the CAM Setup.
  645.      
  646.      First, you will be prompted to confirm or change your boot drive. 
  647.      A small window will appear on your screen asking you to confirm
  648.      the desired boot drive.  Once the boot drive has been defined,
  649.      CAM will search the root directory on the boot drive for the
  650.      AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files.  If these files are not found
  651.      on the designated boot drive, CAM will prompt you as to their
  652.      location.  The drive where these files are located is assumed to
  653.      be the boot drive.  When these files are located, they are then
  654.      copied to the CAM directory and stored as the first initial
  655.      configuration named 'STANDARD CONFIGURATION' and given the
  656.      filename of 'DEFAULT'.  The filename can be changed at your
  657.      discretion.  After this has been completed, you will be able
  658.

  664.      to make any necessary changes in the CAM Setup file.
  665.      
  666.      Second, another window will appear on your screen.  The contents
  667.      of this window is the CAM Setup screen.  Here you will find the
  668.      boot drive, default CAM directory, editor path & name, warm/cold
  669.      boot options, make root configuration read-only option, and disk
  670.      cache options.  You can change any or all of these options as to
  671.      your system setup.  A highlighted bar is at the first option and
  672.      can be moved to other options by using the Up or Down arrow keys
  673.      or the Enter or Return key.  When you are at the last option and
  674.      press the Enter or Return key, if any options have been changed,
  675.      you will then be prompted to save these options to disk.  If the
  676.      editor path & name you have defined cannot be found, then CAM
  677.      will prompt you to change the editor path & name to a valid path
  678.      and name.  Otherwise, the options and their settings listed will
  679.      be saved to disk in the CAM.CFG file.
  680.      
  681.      After the CAM Setup has been saved, the initial installation and
  682.      setup is completed and CAM will be executed normally.  You will
  683.      be placed in the CAM Configuration Selection screen.
  684.      
  685.      At the Configuration Selection screen, you will find at the top
  686.      of the screen the Active and Copied configurations.  The Active
  687.      configuration is the configuration that is currently in memory
  688.      since the last reboot of the system.  This will not change unless
  689.      another configuration is selected and the computer is rebooted
  690.      under that configuration.  The Copied configuration is the latest
  691.      configuration that has been placed in the root directory by CAM. 
  692.      This will be changed when an alternate configuration has been
  693.      selected and copied to the root directory.  The window in the
  694.      center of the screen, the Configuration Selection window,
  695.      contains the available configurations to the left of the window
  696.      and the functions of the highlighted configuration to the right
  697.      of the window.  The highlighted bar can be moved to an alternate
  698.      configuration if more than one of the descriptions appear on the
  699.      screen by pressing the Up or Down arrow keys.  The F1, F2, F3,
  700.      Alt-A, and Alt-C key functions act directly on the configuration
  701.      under the highlighted bar.
  702.      
  703.      You also can include the CAM directory in your PATH statement in
  704.      your AUTOEXEC.BAT file.  This option will allow you to begin CAM
  705.      from anywhere on your drive.  See your DOS manual for more
  706.      information concerning your PATH statement.
  707.      
  708.      USING THE UPGRADE PROGRAM
  709.      
  710.      If you install CAM into its own directory and have a prior
  711.      version of CAM also installed on your drive in another directory,
  712.      you can use the Upgrade program after you have installed CAM 2.62
  713.      and executed CAM for the first time having the 'STANDARD
  714.      CONFIGURATION' already installed as your first configuration.
  715.      
  716.      To execute the UPGRADE.EXE program, type UPGRADE at the DOS
  717.      prompt and press the Enter or Return key.  The Upgrade program
  718.      will prompt you for the prior version for the prior version
  719.      directory.  After you have given the correct directory for your
  720.      prior version, then the Upgrade program will ask if you would
  721.      like to update your CAM Setup file.

  730.      If you select to update your CAM Setup File then the Upgrade
  731.      Program will place your editor, registration name and number, and
  732.      other associated variable values to operate the new version of
  733.      CAM that exists in your prior version setup.  If you do not have
  734.      a registered version, then the registration name and number will
  735.      not be installed into your new CAM Setup File.
  736.      
  737.      After you have update the CAM Setup File, if so desired, then the
  738.      upgrade program will convert your old configurations from your
  739.      prior version and store them in the new CAM default directory, if
  740.      different.  The upgrade program will only convert up to 20
  741.      configurations, that is, it will only store the converted
  742.      configurations in any open records of the new version.  The ones
  743.      not converted will remain in the old default directory.  Only
  744.      empty configuration records will be used.
  745.      
  746.      After you have completed the upgrade, then the upgrade program
  747.      will display the number of configurations converted and you will
  748.      be then able to exit the upgrade program by pressing the Enter or
  749.      Return key.
  750.      
  751.      
  752.      CAM'S FILENAMING SCHEME
  753.      
  754.      To effectively manage the different configurations, CAM adds its
  755.      own file extension to each configuration file.  That is, for each
  756.      AUTOEXEC.BAT file part, CAM adds a 'A01-A20' and for each
  757.      CONFIG.SYS file part, CAM add a 'C01-C20'.  These files are
  758.      sequentially number to represent 1-20 configurations.  CAM allows
  759.      you to create or name the first eight letters of the filename. 
  760.      If you create your own configuration outside of CAM, you must
  761.      keep to this file name scheme so CAM will know how to identify
  762.      each one.  When a configuration is added, CAM will automatically
  763.      use this scheme to name each of the files.

  801.      F1 - ADD A CONFIGURATION - Pressing the F1 key will activate the
  802.      Add A Configuration window to allow you to add a new
  803.      configuration description, filename, and password to the
  804.      configuration list.  The configuration description consists of a
  805.      45 character string.  The filename is the eight letter name given
  806.      to the file.  Example: DOS Filename CONFIG1.A01, whereby, CONFIG1
  807.      is the filename and A01 is the file name extension.  The user
  808.      will be prompted to give the password (if password is not blank)
  809.      when the user tries to access the configuration by renaming,
  810.      editing the configuration files, executing, deleting, or
  811.      otherwise choosing an activity with the selected configuration. 
  812.      If the password is not the correct one, then the user will not be
  813.      allowed to access the configuration in CAM.  After the above
  814.      information is given, then the user will be prompted to save the
  815.      data.  If saved, the user will be allowed to import the
  816.      configuration if desired or clone the current root directory
  817.      configuration.  If the configurations files (AUTOEXEC.BAT and
  818.      CONFIG.SYS) files already exist in the CAM directory, then the
  819.      existing files will be used for the configuration.
  820.      
  821.      F2- RENAME HIGHLIGHTED CONFIGURATION - Pressing the F2 key will
  822.      activate the Rename Highlighted Configuration window.  If a
  823.      password is active for the highlighted configuration, then the
  824.      user will be prompted to enter the correct password.  This
  825.      function will allow you to change or edit the configuration
  826.      description, filename, and password.  You will also observe the
  827.      complete filename, size, time, and date in the window.  If the
  828.      filename is changed, then the filename will be changed to the one
  829.      which was given upon saving of the changes made.  If any data in
  830.      the fields are changed, you will be prompted to save the changes. 
  831.      
  832.      
  833.      F3 - DELETE HIGHLIGHTED CONFIGURATION - Pressing the F3 key will
  834.      activate the Delete Highlighted Configuration window which will
  835.      prompt you to delete the selected configuration with a Yes or No
  836.      option.  Also, you will be able to delete the configuration files
  837.      from the CAM default directory with a Yes or No option in the
  838.      following window named Delete Configuration Files window.
  839.      
  840.      F4 - VIEW A DIRECTORY - Pressing the F4 key will activate the
  841.      View A Directory window displaying the CAM default directory as a
  842.      predefined selection.  This selection can be changed by you if
  843.      you desire to view an alternate directory.  After you select the
  844.      directory you wish to view, the directory listing will be
  845.      displayed in three columns.  At the top of the screen, you will
  846.      see displayed the directory you selected, the number of files
  847.      contained in the directory, sum total of all file sizes in the
  848.      selected directory in bytes, and the total number of bytes free
  849.      listed on the current drive.  If there is a long listing of files
  850.      in the selected directory than can be displayed on the screen,
  851.      then you can press the PageDown key to view the remaining files
  852.      in the directory.

  863.      F5 - VIEW DOS ENVIRONMENT - Pressing the F5 key will open the
  864.      View DOS Environment window.  Contained in this window will be
  865.      the complete environmental variables listing.  These variables
  866.      will be the COMSPEC, PATH, PROMPT, SET statements, and etc...  If
  867.      the environment listing is larger than the window, you can press
  868.      the PageDown key to view the rest of the environment listing. 
  869.      The environment being viewed will be contained in the active
  870.      configuration being held in the computer's memory since the last
  871.      reboot of the computer.
  872.      
  873.      F6 - VIEW PROGRAM INFORMATION - Pressing the F6 key will activate
  874.      the View Program Information window.  This window will contain
  875.      the program name and version, author's name, copyright date, and
  876.      the user's name and registration number, if the program has been
  877.      registered.  For non-registered versions, the message displayed
  878.      will alert you that you are working with an non-registered
  879.      evaluation copy.  See APPENDIX D for Registration procedures. 
  880.      
  881.      F7 - CHANGE CAM SETUP - Pressing the F7 key will activate the
  882.      Change CAM Setup window.  In this window, you will find the user
  883.      defined variables of the Boot Drive, CAM Default Directory,
  884.      Editor Path & Name, Warm/Cold Reboot Option, Make Root
  885.      Configuration Read-Only Option, and the Disk Cache Users Option. 
  886.      The Boot Drive is where you configurations, AUTOEXEC.BAT and
  887.      CONFIG.SYS, will be copied for the reboot process.  The CAM
  888.      Default Directory is the directory path where CAM is residing. 
  889.      The Warm/Cold Reboot Option is a single character, either W or C,
  890.      specifying a Warm or Cold Reboot sequence.  The Make Root
  891.      Configuration Read-Only is a single character, either Y of N,
  892.      specifying, if set to Y for Yes, the file attributes for the root
  893.      AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files are set to Read-Only mode.  If
  894.      set to N for No, then the file attributes for the root
  895.      AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files remain in the Archive mode. 
  896.      See your DOS manual for a complete explanation of file
  897.      attributes.  This option is to prevent accidental tampering or
  898.      erasure of the root configuration.
  899.      
  900.      DISK CACHE USERS:  If you are using a disk cache program, then
  901.      set the Using Disk Cache Option to Y for Yes.  At the Disk Cache
  902.      Filename option, you must include the PATH and Filename for your
  903.      disk cache program.  The Flush Buffer Command is just the command
  904.      that will flush your disk cache buffer.  
  905.      
  906.      Example: If you are using the Norton's Disk Cache program,
  907.      'NCACHE.EXE', and this program is located in the 'C:\UTIL\NU6'
  908.      directory and the flush buffer command is '/F' then:
  909.      
  910.           Disk Cache Filename: C:\UTIL\NU6\NCACHE.EXE
  911.          Flush Buffer Command: /F
  912.      
  913.      If you receive any errors when CAM is flushing the disk cache
  914.      buffer, recheck the location and filename of your disk cache as
  915.      to the accuracy of the PATH and filename. 
  916.      
  917.      NOTE: IF YOUR DISK CACHE DOES NOT HAVE A FLUSH BUFFER COMMAND,
  918.            IN THE FLUSH BUFFER COMMAND FIELD, TYPE 'NONE' WITHOUT
  919.            THE QUOTATION MARKS.

  929.      F8 - COPY FILES TO ROOT DIRECTORY - Pressing the F8 key will copy
  930.      the configuration files for the configuration description under
  931.      the highlighted bar.  These configuration files are copied to the
  932.      root directory and the Copied configuration will be reset to the
  933.      selected configuration description.  This indicates that the
  934.      selected configuration will be Active upon reboot of the
  935.      computer.  If an alternate selection is made and copied to the
  936.      root directory, then the Copied selection will be reset to the
  937.      alternate selected configuration.  If an error is encountered
  938.      during this procedure, See the Configuration Errors During
  939.      Selection section of this manual, Page 9.
  940.      
  941.      F9 - REBOOT COMPUTER - Pressing the F9 key will reboot the
  942.      computer and activate the configuration stored in the root
  943.      directory of your boot drive.  This procedure will reboot the
  944.      computer by either a warm or cold boot as it is set in the CAM
  945.      Setup.  This function does not change the configuration stored in
  946.      the root directory, it just simply reboots the computer.  
  947.      
  948.      F10 - EXIT TO DOS - Pressing the Escape or F10 key will allow you
  949.      to exit to DOS and quit CAM.  CAM will compare the root directory
  950.      configuration, AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files, to the active
  951.      configuration listed in CAM for differences in file size, time,
  952.      and date.  If any of these are different, then CAM will alert you
  953.      to the problem and allow you to change them if necessary.  See
  954.      Configuration Errors During Selection section of this manual,
  955.      Page 9.  
  956.      
  957.      ALT-A - EDIT AUTOEXEC.BAT - Holding down the ALT key and pressing
  958.      the 'A' key simultaneously will call your editor and load the
  959.      AUTOEXEC.BAT file of the highlighted configuration.  This will
  960.      allow you to make any changes in this file to suit your needs. 
  961.      If CAM cannot load your editor, CAM will alert you to the problem
  962.      by giving you an error code and meaning to help you solve the
  963.      problem.  The most common problem is File Not Found, meaning that
  964.      CAM could not find your editor by the filename in the path you
  965.      have provided.  Recheck your path and filename for possible
  966.      errors or make sure your editor is in the directory you have
  967.      given.  When you exit your editor, CAM will update the file date,
  968.      size, and time.
  969.      
  970.      ALT-C - EDIT CONFIG.SYS - Holding down the ALT key and pressing
  971.      the 'C' key simultaneously will call your editor and load the
  972.      CONFIG.SYS file of the highlighted configuration.  This will
  973.      allow you to make any changes in this file to suit your needs. 
  974.      If CAM cannot load your editor, CAM will alert you to the problem
  975.      by giving you an error code and meaning to help you solve the
  976.      problem.  The most common problem is File Not Found, meaning that
  977.      CAM could no find your editor by the filename in the path you
  978.      have provided.  Recheck your path and filename for possible
  979.      errors or make sure your editor is in the directory you have
  980.      given.  When you exit your editor, CAM will update the file date,
  981.      size, and time.

  983.      ENTER - EXECUTE HIGHLIGHTED CONFIGURATION - Pressing the Enter or
  984.      Return key will combine the functions of the F8 (Copy Highlighted
  985.      Configuration) and the F9 (Reboot Computer) keys.  After the
  986.      Enter or Return key is pressed, the highlighted configuration
  987.      will be copied to the root directory and the computer will be
  988.

  1002.      CONFIGURATION ERRORS DURING SELECTION
  1003.      
  1004.      When you select to change, update, or replace the configuration
  1005.      in the root directory.  CAM will compare the root directory
  1006.      configuration to the Active configuration which it tracks.  If
  1007.      there is a difference in the file size, time, or date, CAM will
  1008.      alert you to the difference and prompt you to update the root
  1009.      directory files.  This error can be encountered by manually
  1010.      changing the configuration files outside of CAM, either the root
  1011.      directory files or the CAM configuration files for the active
  1012.      selection.  CAM will allow you to do one of four things: 1)
  1013.      Update the Root Directory files with the ones CAM has designated
  1014.      as the Active configuration, 2) Update the CAM designated Active
  1015.      files with the root directory files, 3) Add the root directory
  1016.      files as a new configuration to the configuration list, or 4)
  1017.      Continue with selected action, either copying the selected
  1018.      configuration to the root directory or exit to DOS.  This is the
  1019.      way that CAM checks the files to maintain accuracy of tracking. 
  1020.      If you are going to use CAM as your configuration manager, then
  1021.      CAM must know what you doing with the files and inform you what
  1022.      it finds.  This allows clarity and maintains the effectiveness of
  1023.      CAM.

  1064.      These options are designed to make the configuration management
  1065.      easily accessible from the DOS prompt without having to fully go
  1066.      into Config/Autoexec Manager.  The following descriptions will
  1067.      give you more of an insight to the command line functions.
  1068.      
  1069.      
  1070.      '/<filename>' OPTION - This option will allow you to copy the
  1071.      desired configuration to the root directory of your boot drive
  1072.      and reboot the computer.
  1073.      
  1074.      Example:  DEFAULT - Name of Selected Configuration
  1075.                          (first eight letters of DOS filename)
  1076.                      / - Denotes beginning of filename
  1077.      
  1078.      DOS Command Line:   C> CAM /DEFAULT
  1079.      
  1080.      CAM will look for the given filename on the command line for a
  1081.      valid filename.  If found on configuration list, then CAM will
  1082.      execute the configuration.  If the password option is applied to
  1083.      the selected configuration, then the correct password must be
  1084.      given in order to execute.  This option is extremely powerful by
  1085.      allowing quick and easy changing of configurations. 
  1086.      
  1087.      
  1088.      '-T<seconds>' OPTION - This command line option is designed to
  1089.      delay the start up of CAM for a specified number of seconds,
  1090.      where <seconds> is a number defined from 1-99. If <seconds> are
  1091.      not specified, i.e. the DOS prompt would be 'C> CAM -T' then CAM
  1092.      will default to a 15 second delay.  During this delay phase, the
  1093.      timer clock is set and the remaining seconds are displayed on the
  1094.      screen.  During the countdown, you can press the Enter or Return
  1095.      key to begin CAM or press the Spacebar key to abort the timer
  1096.      function and exit to DOS.  After the timer has expired and the
  1097.      Enter or Return is not pressed, then CAM will exit to DOS.

  1132.      If you have Stacker installed on your hard drive and desire to
  1133.      use CAM in conjunction with Stacker, then you can configure CAM
  1134.      in two ways:
  1135.      
  1136.      1) Using the Stacker Drive as Your Boot Drive
  1137.         If you have configured your Stacker Drive during its
  1138.         installation, then set the Boot Drive Option in CAM
  1139.         Setup to the Stacker Drive.  Example: Your Stacker Drive
  1140.         is Drive E.  CAM Boot Drive: E:\.
  1141.      
  1142.      2) Not Using the Stacker Drive as Your Boot Drive
  1143.         If your boot drive is not designated as the Stacker Drive
  1144.         then set the CAM Boot Drive to the boot drive of your
  1145.         computer.  Example: Your Stacker Drive is Drive E, but 
  1146.         your Boot Drive is Drive C.  CAM Boot Drive: C:\.
  1147.      
  1148.      Stacker will prompt you to update your configurations on your
  1149.      boot drive if Stacker contains a set of configuration files, i.e
  1150.      AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS.  Stacker's drive swapping utility
  1151.      will take care of the swapping of the configuration files, but it
  1152.      will ask you if you want to update the files.  When choosing to
  1153.      do this, keep in mind which drive is your boot drive and where
  1154.      CAM has copied the configuration files.
  1155.      
  1156.

  1159.      If you are using Desqview and wish to use CAM in conjunction with
  1160.      Desqview, then you must determine the minimal memory usage of
  1161.      CAM.  Use the Desqview utility programs to determine the minimal
  1162.      memory usage.  When you use CAM in conjunction with these
  1163.      Desqview utility programs, then you MUST execute your editor,
  1164.      that is, edit a configuration file for these purposes, so the
  1165.      Desqview utility programs can determine the correct amount of
  1166.      memory that CAM is actually using.  The author has determined
  1167.      that the minimal memory usage is 510-512K.  Using any other
  1168.      amount for the memory block may result in erroneous errors of CAM
  1169.      and you may not be able to load your editor during CAM's
  1170.      execution.  CAM can be swapped to disk if needed.  See the
  1171.      Desqview manual for complete details concerning its utility
  1172.      programs and installing a program for use with the Desqview
  1173.      environment.
